Beautiful essay. I was away for a week, too, and thought about how you can relax easily knowing that nothing much at your job will change that week. But these days, something horrible happens here every single day. You have to stay on your toes on vacation.

Beautiful, interesting thoughts, Ron. There is so much "static" in the air at the moment that everything seems to have speeded up. Too much news, and it feels impossible to switch off.

My grandmother used to say that she was glad she was "on her way out" the way the world was going, and I always found that a strange thing to say. Now that I'm older I understand. So many thoughts...

I wonder if I were collecting shiny things to embellish my nest which lines I would weave into the grasses? Perhaps the first to catch my eye—“Spring comes quietly and late to the shadows.”
