For me, mentoring is not just about teaching established traditions—it’s also about listening and supporting each writer's unique experiences, ambitions, and style of expression.
What’s different about micro-mentoring?
Affordable and flexible.
No deadlines, schedules, or homework
Submit your work for feedback when you’re ready
New to critique? I’ll use the gentle “two stars and a wish” approach to keep you inspired and writing
Don’t need a mentor? Use me as a sounding board, and I can hold you accountable.
120 USD gets you 6 mentor exchanges over the course of a year. Submit up to four pages each time, and receive thoughtful, half-page responses.
A great way to find out if you'd like to continue with one of my other mentoring or Expressive Writing packages
Otherwise, Why work with me?
I’m not just a poet—I’m a dedicated and experienced mentor who cares deeply about nurturing creative confidence and helping you grow as a writer, without overwhelming your schedule or energy.
I hold a Ph.D. in Creative Writing, a teaching certification, and a counseling diploma.
I offer
Published and produced writer, playwright, and translator, with work recognized on both the page and the stage.
Over 20 years of experience teaching writing and theater arts across diverse settings and age groups.
Specialized expertise in expressive writing as a tool for reflection, emotional processing, and mental well-being.
Proven experience working with neurodivergent writers, creating flexible, supportive, and accessible spaces for expression.
Lived experience with trauma, resilience, and the healing power of writing, offering authentic insight and empathy.
Writing Towards Literary Publication or Production?
My exposure to global poetry—through editing international journals, and working as a translator—offers a unique perspective on the written word.
Over the years, I’ve designed and led workshops for adults and teens writing in English and Norwegian, supported by Arts Council Norway. I’ve also served as a mentor through Prescott College’s Master of Arts program, which emphasizes community service as a core teaching value.
Additionally, I've been an associate editor and feature writer for Poemeleon for more than a decade, and I'm currently the Poetry Editor for Orange Blossom Review.
Writing for Personal Growth?
I have long been a proponent of Expressive Writing. My recent online diary about breast cancer treatment and recovery stands as an example of this practice. You can also read about my thoughts on poetry’s role in creating “a good life”, reinvention, and personal growth here.
